4 Super Bowl Lessons for Real Estate Pros!

FootballExcitement is building as we get closer to Super Bowl Sunday! Whether you’re a football fan or not, the Super Bowl is a great reason to get together with friends and family, eat snacks and and see the best commercials of the year!

There are life lessons we can learn from the Super Bowl, which is another great reason to watch it. As a Real Estate Virtual Assistant, I want to share how these lessons can apply to those in the real estate profession.

Here are the top four lessons we can learn from football’s biggest game of the year:

1. Marketing Matters– Many of us watch the Super Bowl for the commercials.  These creative, funny commercials will be talked about around the water cooler for weeks after the game.  The lesson learned?  Marketing really does matter!

While you may not be spending millions buying a commercial spot for the Super Bowl, it’s important to put some creativity and money into your marketing. People will notice, and you want to make sure you’re the real estate professional they’re talking about!

2. Winners Never Quit – A professional team simply doesn’t quit at the hardest point in the game. Why should our work be any different? If you’re trying something new for your business this year, or have set exciting goals, you will probably experience some hardship or setbacks.  Don’t give up!  Push through those tough times and keep the end goal in mind!

3. You Need a Good Support Team– The top two teams that make it to the Super Bowl have proven the success of teamwork and special team units that excel at their role.  You should surround yourself with individuals who are great at what they do and are team players.  Working together as a real estate team will create a powerful force that is hard to beat!

4. Learn to Lose Well-  Only one team wins the Super Bowl! For every home on the market, there can only be one agent who wins the listing or client. Whether you don’t get the client you wanted, or another agent snatches up that great listing to sell, there will be some losses during your real estate career.

Occassional losses will happen. Don’t be discouraged about your abilities or your business! Take it as a learning opportuntiy, re-group, and get back in the game.

I hope these lessons are a good reminder of what it takes to be successful in the real estate industry!  As you prepare to watch the Super Bowl, think through how you and your team can work together to have a winning 2013!
