GoogleStatsHave you ever wondered if your social media strategy is working?

Aside from counting your “likes”, can you tell if your social media is getting noticed, or driving traffic to your website?

If you are using Google Real-Time Analytics, you will be able to answer these questions! You can view activity on a new Tweet, Facebook post or a blog post, live, as it happens!

What Google Real-Time Analytics do:

Real-Time lets you see activity as it happens on your site, with continuously updating reports! You can see how many people are on your site, see their locations, what pages they’re viewing on your site, and what site referred them.

This allows you to see if your social media content is engaging your viewers. You get insight to the type of content that interests your audience, and you can see what time of day reaches the most people. You’ll see if you are getting immediate engagement and traction.

You will also see what keywords draw visitors to your site! This will help you strategize your blogging for better SEO, and use the right topics on blogs and social media. You will be able to make intelligent adjustments to your website content based on real data, not guesses!

How to get Google Real-Time Analytics:

You’ll need to have the new version of Google Analytics to use the Real-time reports. If you don’t already have the new version, just go to your current Google Analytics page and click on “New Version” in the top right corner.

If you don’t have Google Analytics yet (gasp!) you can visit this link.

Once you’ve updated to the new version, find the Real-Time reports in the Home tab. You’ll need to be an Administrator on your Analytics account in order to view the reports.

You’ll notice that Real-Time reflects your profile date, so if anything looks wrong, you’ll need to check the filters that are being applied to your profile. (Note: When updating tracking information, you’ll need to use an unfiltered profile. It may also take a few hours to see the updates in your profile.)

Whether you’re interested in how many people are viewing your site at any given time, or you want to track your social media posts; you’ll love using Real-Time! Included in the reports are a number of other stats too, so you’ll be constantly up to date on exactly what’s happening on your website!

Now, if anything in this post went right over your head – don’t worry! Google has great walk-through information that makes it straightforward. But if you need help, or your time is at a premium, skilled Real Estate Virtual Assistants can set this up for you!
